Part Two of Gazetteer:
MILFORD - in Hillsborough county, is bounded N. by Mount-Vernon and Lynde- borough, E. by Amherst, S. by Hollis, and W. by Mason and Wilton, comprising an area of 15,402 acres. This town was incorporated in 1794, and in 1810, its population was 1,118. A large portion of its land is intervale, lying on Sowhegan river and its branches. Rev. H. Moore, the present minister was ordained over the Congregational society here in 1812. There is also a Baptist society without any settled pastor. There is here a meeting house, a cotton factory erected in 1813, a screw factory, several mills, and 2 carding machines.
